COMPLAINING ABOUT THE WORLD MEANS that it is not
meeting your idealism. Complaining about the world means that you do not
recognize that you have come here to work. Complaining about the world does not
help you understand its predicaments. Complaining about the world means you do
not understand the world as it is. Your complaints indicate that some
expectation has been disappointed. These disappointments are necessary for you
to begin to understand the world as it is and to understand yourself as you
truly are.
UPON THE HOUR TODAY GIVE THIS AFFIRMATION to
yourself and then practice it. Each hour spend a minute not complaining about
the world. Do not let the hours go by unattended, but be present for practice.
Recognize the extent to which others are complaining about the world and how
little it gives them and how little it gives the world. The world has already
been condemned by those who dwell within it. If it is to be loved and
cultivated, its predicaments must be recognized and its opportunities must be
accepted. Who can complain when an environment is given where Knowledge can be
reclaimed and contributed? The world only needs Knowledge and the expressions
of Knowledge. How can it be worthy of condemnation?

65 - I have come to work in the world.

7:40 A.M. Monday, Sept 20, 1999
- S2K hourly practice is: "I have come to work in the world." I'd
read it as "I have come to the world to work." The difference is
subtle, but the latter puts emphasis on work as though it were the only thing.
I am one of many who have come to work in the world.
Am I such a fragile soul that
it is so difficult to stay in body?
I'm
not lost, but seeking my proper affinity. Thus always an outsider who can't get
into any particular fold.

2nd Time Step 65.
This is for those who have completed
Steps once. Doing Steps with only the texts, messages and your life experience,
including what you may have studied and practiced is your journey. I’m showing
my first year Step comments after the Step, so as not to influence you in
advance. It is a wilderness trek to be left to your own wits, but then you can
also listen more closely for guides, angels and teachers, always first saying:
“I surround and protect myself with the Love and the Grace of God.” Thankfully,
I was taught this practice in 1989.
P.S. If you’ve some interest due to this or other
Steps, you should go to the beginning blog post. From here you will learn about Steps to Knowledge
and can begin it on the day that makes sense; then progress as needed. You can
use the posts on this blog as a companion if it helps. They will remain in
order in the archives - one post per Step.
Often it takes 18 months to get through the Steps
once. For this blog, the pace is one-a-day, but it really makes no difference
how fast you do it, only that you begin, persist and repeat. Posts here provide
a trail that may let you have a virtual companion when and if you want one. One
may have to study alone, as I did in the beginning. There are other Steps
students blogging their experience and you might find a person more like you as
a companion, or use a number of such Steps journeys. There are options as well
