Step 37 - There is a Way to Knowledge. (MP3) [Open in Drive or copy to your Drive – Download folder or play from Drive – Step PDF also.]
HOW CAN THERE NOT BE A WAY TO KNOWLEDGE when it is your True Self? How can there not be a way for Knowledge to express itself when it is the most natural form of expression? How can there not be a way for Knowledge to guide you in relationships when Knowledge is the perfect source of all your relationships? There is a way to Knowledge. It requires skill and desire. Both will take time to develop. You must learn to value the true and not to value the false, and it takes time to learn to separate the two and to recognize them. It takes time to learn that the false does not satisfy you and that the true does satisfy you. This must be learned through trial and error and through contrast. As you approach Knowledge, your life becomes more full, more certain and more direct. As you go away from it, you reenter confusion, frustration and anger.
IN YOUR TWO PRACTICE PERIODS TODAY, which will not be meditation practices, spend at least 15 minutes thinking of all the ways to gain access to Knowledge. Write down on a piece of paper all the ways to get to Knowledge. Spend both practice periods doing this and exhaust all the possibilities that you can think of. Try to be very specific. Use your imagination, but chart out routes that appear to be quite real and meaningful to you. In this way, you will know what you think about how to find a way to Knowledge, and from this you will realize that God knows the way to Knowledge.
PRACTICE 37: Two 15-minute practice periods.
Time to use the journal.
Yesterday: Step 36 - My life is a mystery to explore.
From the journal:
August 21, 1999...
Checking today's S2K - the 15 min meditations focus on contacting the teachers (guides)
In ACIM one is to access Holy Spirit; in S2K it is guides who have been this way and have insight. In one of my earliest readings I was told I am with a group of four who are in cooperative study with me.
To understand the the notion of Mystery in the Steps does take some time. Be patient.
Journal 2nd Time Step 36. This is for those who have completed Steps once. Doing Steps with only the texts, messages and your life experience, including what you may have studied and practiced is your journey. I’m showing Step comments after the Step, so as not to influence you in advance. It is a wilderness trek to be left to your own wits, but then you can also listen more closely for guides, angels and teachers, always first saying: “I surround and protect myself with the Love and the Grace of God.” Thankfully, I was taught this practice in 1989.
P.S. If you’ve some interest due to this or other Steps, you should go to the beginning blog post. From here you will learn about Steps to Knowledge and can begin it on the day that makes sense; then progress as needed. You can use the posts on this blog as a companion if it helps. They will remain in order in the archives - one post per Step.
Often it takes 18 months to get through the Steps once. For this blog, the pace is one-a-day, but it really makes no difference how fast you do it, only that you begin, persist and repeat. Posts here provide a trail that may let you have a virtual companion when and if you want one. One may have to study alone, as I did in the beginning. There are other Steps students blogging their experience and you might find a person more like you as a companion, or use a number of such Steps journeys. There are options as well through the Free School of the New Message.
