Step 48 - True instruction is available to me. (MP3) Entry for Step 47 - Why do I need Teachers?

Greetings All –

Step 48 - True instruction is available to me. (MP3)  [Open in Drive or copy to your Drive – Download folder or play from Drive – Step PDF also.]

True instruction is available to me.
Step 48

TRUE INSTRUCTION IS AVAILABLE. It has been waiting for you to reach the point of maturity where you realize its necessity in your life. This engenders true motivation for learning. It is born of recognizing your limitations in light of that which is your true need. You must love yourself to become a student of Knowledge and continually love yourself to proceed. There is no other obstacle to learning but this. Without love there is fear, for nothing else can replace love. But love has not been replaced, and true assistance is available to you.

IN YOUR TWO MEDITATION PRACTICES TODAY, attempt to feel the presence of that true assistance. In stillness and in silence, feel this within your life and around you. These meditation practices will begin to open a greater sensitivity within you, a whole new sense. You will begin to discern things that are present, even though you cannot see them. You will be able to respond to ideas and information, even though you cannot hear the source of the message yet. This is the actual process in creative thinking, for people receive ideas; they do not create them. You are part of a greater life. Your personal life is the vehicle for its expression. Your individuality, then, becomes more highly cultivated and more joyful, a prison no longer for you, but the form of your joyful expression.

TRUE ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE TO YOU. Practice this day feeling its abiding presence in your life.

PRACTICE 48: Two 30-minute practice periods.

Picture:  Truck stop – Route 6, Utah. Could a parking lot for land ships be a place where true instruction might be received? Steps practice is not limited to monasteries or college campuses.

This step does make a good case for teachers: "You cannot teach yourself what you do not know, ...."

From the Journal:

9:40 A.M.  Sept 2, 1999 - Thursday - S2K "True instruction is available to me." In the first 30 minute meditation - of which 9 minutes remain, I've tried to remember and honor the many teachers I've had in this 52 years of life in/on/with earth. People, situations, schools, books, guidance, intuition, meditation, dreams - all sought because - "Here I am, send me." that response got me here. I want to integrate. I trust and seek verification. That S2K/GCW says its teaching relationships all the way up and down - makes it clear. As a soul I'm not among the first to be conscious - nor is my family of spiritual gypsies. In teaching, my only resistance was to $ cost of music lessons - but I should have done that when I could. That's a regret - but from a greater view - who knows.

With S2K I am testing the truth of this teaching with my heart. There are many proclaimed teachers. ACIM says we teach constantly.

As a society, our teachings work at cross purposes. A Tower of Babel of conflict.

Only heart can sort it out for the soul.

This notion was not a problem for me. For others, that may not be the case.

Journal 2nd Time Step 47.  This is for those who have completed Steps once. Doing Steps with only the texts, messages and your life experience, including what you may have studied and practiced is your journey. I’m showing Step comments after the Step, so as not to influence you in advance. It is a wilderness trek to be left to your own wits, but then you can also listen more closely for guides, angels and teachers, always first saying: “I surround and protect myself with the Love and the Grace of God.” Thankfully, I was taught this practice in 1989.

P.S. If you’ve some interest due to this or other Steps, you should go to the beginning blog post. From here you will learn about Steps to Knowledge and can begin it on the day that makes sense; then progress as needed. You can use the posts on this blog as a companion if it helps. They will remain in order in the archives - one post per Step.

Often it takes 18 months to get through the Steps once. For this blog, the pace is one-a-day, but it really makes no difference how fast you do it, only that you begin, persist and repeat. Posts here provide a trail that may let you have a virtual companion when and if you want one. One may have to study alone, as I did in the beginning. There are other Steps students blogging their experience and you might find a person more like you as a companion, or use a number of such Steps journeys. There are options as well through the Free School of the New Message.
